Dr. Mark J. Mittenthal graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut in 1971 and earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College of Union University in Albany, New York in 1975. He completed a general surgery internship and residency program at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in 1980. Dr. Mittenthal also completed a fellowship in peripheral vascular surgery at Emory in 1981.

Dr. Mittenthal is board certified in vascular and general surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and he is certified as a Registered Vascular Technologist. He is a member of the Southern Association for Vascular Surgery, the North American chapter of the International Society of Cardio-Vascular Surgeons and the Emory Vascular Society. He is also a member of the American Medical Association, the Medical Association of Georgia, the Medical Association of Atlanta, as well as a member of the Georgia Surgical Society, the Atlanta Vascular Society, and the Southeastern Surgical Congress.

Dr. Mittenthal has published articles in Surgery, The American Surgeon and Atlanta Medicine. He has made numerous presentations at medical conferences and to medical societies on a wide variety of vascular disease topics.
