Dr. Lewinstein has more than 20 years of experience in vascular surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He serves as Chief of Vascular Surgery at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, a nationally recognized center for vascular and cardiovascular care.
Dr. Lewinstein practiced general and vascular surgery in Southern California for five years before moving to Atlanta in 1992, where he narrowed his field exclusively to vascular surgery. Over the ensuing decade, he broadened his practice to include diagnostic angiography and therapeutic endovascular interventions. Dr. Lewinstein has participated in many nation-wide clinical investigations since 1997.
Dr. Lewinstein continues to balance open surgical procedures, endovascular management of vascular disease, and medical management of arterial and venous problems in an effort to provide his patients with the optimal treatment for their vascular illness. His current research involvement includes trials using the Silverhawk atherectomy device, a less invasive way of treating lower extremity arterial blockages.
Throughout his career, Dr. Lewinstein has maintained an active interest in the treatment of venous disease. He has been practicing sclerotherapy for more than 20 years and has evolved his scope of varicose vein treatment to include less invasive, office-based treatments such as VNUS Closure and laser therapy.
